Bob Einstein, the man most known for playing Marty Funkhouser on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, as well as the goofy daredevil, Super Dave Osborne, succumbed to cancer at 76. According to CBS, Bob died after a short battle with leukemia.
For thirteen years, 2004 until 2017, Einstein co-starred along with Larry David, the star of the show, and also the writer and creator of Seinfeld with Jerry Seinfeld. Due to popular demand, Curb Your Enthusiasm was brought back on the air in 2017 after a six-year hiatus that began in 2011.
Fans of Einstein know that he has had a name in the entertainment industry for many years preceding Curb Your Enthusiasm. In the late 1970s, he was a writer for productions like The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, a job for which he was given an Emmy accolade in the Summer of Love in 1969.
In addition to working for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Van Dyke And Company, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bob wrote for The Sonny And Cher Comedy Hour.
Moreover, his time on the Van Dyke and Company also earned him another Emmy win. Standing tall at six-foot-four, he kicked off his Super Dave character in 1972.

During his time as the goofy stuntman, Super Dave often failed at stunts in a spectacular fashion. In one episode, he fell off the Toronto CN tower and was obliterated by a giant wrecking ball.
Due to his legend in the comedy scene, Einstein also appeared on Norm MacDonald’s show on YouTube for a number of different episodes. In one semi-viral clip, Bob makes fun of Norm’s assistant/co-host, Adam Eget, by not even cracking a single smile after he asks Bob every comedian’s most hated question: “how do you come up with your ideas?”

Bob is survived by his older brother, Albert Brooks, who also works in the entertainment industry, and for nearly as long. He’s most known for creating, writing, or starring in Modern Romance, Lost In America and Defending Your Life.
